Future people can be our neighbours. We can imagine present and future people who love each other, help each other, and unite each other becoming a bond with compassion. Future people can exist when and only when future neighbours stay in our mind. 46. Putin saves the future world?

Posted by T.T. and P.R. in July 2022

On the 24th February 2022, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, commanded the Russian military to invade Ukraine. This totally unprovoked, vicious, attack followed a month of denials by Putin and Lavrov that there was no plan to attack Ukraine. Now, just four months later and more than 45,000 innocent men, women and children murdered, much of what used to be a beautiful, historical, independent, sovereign city, has been razed to the floor.

As the relatives of the dead and tortured people try to come to terms with what Putin has done, the question is raised, how can  more deaths and  sufferings be stopped? Doubtless this could actually depend on Putin himself. He is holding some possible choices and thinking, which could lead to positive outcomes for himself. To achieve this he would need to choose just one option among all of the imaginable choices.

We can imagine future people living many hundreds or thousands of years ahead of us now. They should be able to find descriptions of Russia’s attack of Ukraine in 2022 in their history. They might also see how Putin’s earlier similar attacks of Crimea in 2014 were carried, as well Transnistria taken from Moldova in 1992, Abkhazia and South Ossetia taken from Georgia in 2008.

Analyzing the history of repeated Russian invasions and annexes of some parts in east European countries, future people will be able to infer Putin’s mind in the midst of warfare in Ukraine, and guess how he would imagine the consequences of his strategies. Although he never tried to change his bullish attitude, he would surely know that there were several difficulties to reach what he regards as a ‘perfect victory’. However, future people will clearly recognize that Putin would become myopic due to the successes of past invasive attempts, so that a great many more brilliant possible choices were totally out of sight in his mind.

There are possibilities that could cause a different choice for Putin. The effects of future people’s imaginations will likely spread beyond present people’s imaginations, because they will have far more knowledge than we have. Then, in 2022, they might well find that Putin had a tremendous opportunity to save the present and the future worlds as we know them, avoiding his promised nuclear war.

Such imagined possibilities may change present people’s thoughts so that future people’s imaginations may become reality. If Putin is changed by such imagination, he may propose a declaration of the end of the military invasion of Ukraine and withdrawal of military power.  The terms of exchange can be that all nations should respect the human rights of all future people in higher priority than that of present people. Accordingly, The United Nations could establish a new seat for a representative of future people, and the power of veto should be given to the representative.

Because of the urgency to quit the war, all nations will have to accept Putin’s proposal, then the human rights of all future people could be officially established in a short period of time. This shift would bring tremendous outcomes. Human rights of future people will be clearly declared in the Constitution of every country, developments of all kinds of human activities will have to be limited by veto of the future representative in the UN, and consequently a rich and clean natural biosphere could be preserved until the remote future.

If and when Putin’s proposal is accepted by all countries, a great many important events would occur worldwide; wars would be gone, military powers are withdrawn, people praise Putin for his final action, many memorial events would be held, with many big prizes and titles given to him, and scholars would be encouraged to record everything and leave such records in the human history.  Such an imagination is almost a fairy tale, but if Putin is satisfied effectively in this imagined scenario, it could be actually realized by his choice.
